你好呀，我是来自加拿大的雅思外教Mac。今天，给大家分享1个雅思口语考试中可能会用到的技巧。
During the IELTS speaking test you might forget some words because you are nervous.
Try not to worry! You can use other words to describe what you want to say.
在考试的过程中，忘记了某个词的英文表达咋办？
比如，你忘了怎么用英文说“哮喘”，或者“电饭煲”。
可以从下面的固定结构里挑一个，并对你忘记的词稍加描述。
1. I can't remember the word for it but…
2. The name of this … is on the tip of my tongue but I can't quite recall it.
3. … has completely slipped my mind.
4. I've never come across the name of this … in English.
5. … has escaped my memory.
举几个例子：
忘记“遥控器”(a remote controller)的英文单词，我们可以这样说：
I can't remember the word for it (固定结构) but it's used for changing the TV channel. (稍加描述：这个东西的用途)
忘记“电饭煲”（rice cooker）的英语单词，可以这样说：
I’m afraid the name of this kitchenware has escaped my memory （固定结构） but we use it to cook rice. （这个东西的用途）
“哮喘”（asthma）可以这样描述：
The name of this condition has completely slipped my mind （固定结构）. A person who suffers from it has problems breathing. （描述这种病的症状）
“修剪枝叶”(prune)可以这样描述：
The name of this activity is on the tip of my tongue but I can’t quite recall it. （固定结构）You cut off some of the branches of plants to make them look better. （描述具体动作）
“黄鼠狼” (a skunk)可以这样描述：
I’ve never come across the name of this animal in English. It’s an animal that can produce an offensive odor to drive its predator away.
“妇科医生”(a gynecologist)可以这样描述：
I’m afraid the name of this occupation has escaped my memory. Umm they work in a hospital and their patients are females.
