Used to 和 would
Would与used to都可用来表示过去(以前)经常发生的事(现在不会发生了)。
比如:I used to have long hair. 我以前是长头发。
When I was a child I would jump the rope. 当我还是个孩子的时候,我会跳绳.
过去式是在 used to 前加didn’t
We didn’t used to wear uniforms. 我们以前不穿制服
一般疑问句前面加did
Did you used to walk to school? 你以前走路上学吗?
如果指过去的动作时,它们常常可以换用,如:
We would ride our scooters every day.我们以前每天都骑摩托车
We used to ride our scooters every day.我们以前每天都骑摩托车
但would不能用于表达陈述过去的状态。
I used to be very shy. (正确)
I would be very shy. (错误)
Granddaughter: Grandma what did you look like when you were a little girl?

We also like playing hopscotch we used to draw the squares on the ground with chalk.

Grandpa: My brother and I would spend the day walking around the neighborhood visiting other kids on the block and playing games. We used to have wooden scooters and we would ride them every day sometimes we would make paper planes.

Grandma: Well students used to respect their teacher very much we would always obey them. I can remember Mrs Elizabeth my 3rd grade teacher very well when we arrived each morning she would sit at her desk she would always smile and say hello to each students as they entered. When the bell rang she would stand up and clear her throat that meant we were supposed to be quiet so that the class could start.
