关于向日葵，有一个凄美的希腊神话故事。据说海洋女神Clytie爱上了外出狩猎的太阳神阿波罗，而阿波罗对Clytie无感，直接无视了这位仙女。就这样，Clytie热切地盼望阿波罗的出现，哪怕就只是跟她说说话，可惜自此之后阿波罗再也没有出现。Clytie只能每天看着阿波罗金碧辉煌的日车从面前经过，日复一日，憔悴不堪。众神怜悯她，将她化作一朵金色的向日葵，永远向着太阳，向他诉说自己永远不变的爱恋。因此，向日葵的花语是沉默的爱。
木心在《文学回忆录》中说："希腊神话是一笔美丽得发昏的糊涂账。因为糊涂，因为发昏，才如此美丽。"小编深以为然，不管是自恋身死，化为水仙花的纳卡索斯；还是逐日的海洋女神，故事听来头脑发热，不可思议，却能引人深省。甚至是很多其他的希腊故事，都是天真稚气，活泼美好，却又折射出很多的伦理和人性。

"Where have you been you naughty child?"

"I won't tell you mother." That's what you and I would say then.
