Writing a new chapter in building a green and low-carbon silk road

“构建包容性绿色低碳经济”，是中国环境与发展国际合作委员会2022年年会的主题，也是中国向世界作出的又一次“绿色发展”宣言。

“Building an inclusive green and low-carbon economy” is the keyword of the 2022 Annual Meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development and also another “green development” declaration made by China to the world.

自2016年提出共建“绿色丝绸之路”以来，中国将绿色低碳发展融入“一带一路”建设，聚焦绿色基建、绿色能源、海水淡化、生物多样性保护等重点领域，一大批绿色标志性项目落地生根，为沿线国家经济转型、绿色发展带来重大历史机遇。

Since the proposal of jointly building the Green Silk Road in 2016 China has integrated green and low-carbon development into the Belt and Road construction with a focus on key areas such as green infrastructure green energy Seawater desalination and biodiversity protection. A large number of green landmark projects have taken root bringing great historical opportunities for economic transformation and green development of countries along the road.

建设绿色铁路、绿色建筑，是绿色基建的中国贡献。从亚吉铁路到中老铁路，从蒙内铁路到埃及斋月十日城铁路，一条条路景交融的生态长廊、绿意盎然的“钢铁巨龙”蜿蜒前行；从卡塔尔卢塞尔体育场到埃及新行政首都中央商务区，再到埃塞商业银行新总部大楼，由新材料、新工艺打造的绿色建筑，助力低碳生态城市的创建。

Building green railways and architectures are China’s contributions to building green infrastructure. From the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway to the China-Laos Railway and from the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway to the 10th of Ramadan Railway in Egypt the ecological corridors with beautiful scenery and the green “steel dragon” wind forward; from the Qatar Lusail Stadium to the new administrative capital CBD of Egypt and then to the new headquarters of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia the green buildings built with new materials and new technologies promote the creation of low-carbon ecological cities.

推动光伏、风电和水电等国际合作，是绿色能源的中国行动。从越南到阿根廷，从哈萨克斯坦到埃塞俄比亚，缓缓转动的“大风车”、似“蓝色海洋”的光伏板，使得全球清洁能源占比不断增加，全球能源转型和“双碳”目标实现计日程功。

Promoting international cooperation in photovoltaic wind power and hydropower is China’s green energy action. From Vietnam to Argentina from Kazakhstan to Ethiopia the slowly rotating “windmill” and “blue ocean” photovoltaic panels have continuously increased the proportion of global clean energy and the global energy transition and the realization of the dual carbon goals have been on schedule.

实施海水淡化和生物多样性保护，是环境保护的中国智慧。从沙特到阿联酋，再到巴基斯坦，不断创新技术、解决淡水短缺问题，打造出大片沙漠绿洲；从肯尼亚到巴西，从老挝到埃塞，创造性设计施工，最大程度守护当地生物栖息环境，使地球生态系统持续向好。

Seawater desalination and biodiversity protection is China’s wisdom in environmental protection. From Saudi Arabia to the United Arab Emirates and then to Pakistan we have continuously innovated technology solved the problem of freshwater shortage and created a large area of oasis in desert. From Kenya to Brazil from Laos to Ethiopia we have creatively designed construction plans to protect the local biological habitat to the greatest extent so that the earth’s ecosystem continues to improve.

坚持绿色低碳可持续发展，中国正携手共建“一带一路”合作伙伴，共谱丝路新华章。

Adhering to green low-carbon and sustainable development China is working together with our BRI cooperation partners to write a new chapter for the silk road.
