88-Year-Old Artist Finishes Year of Daily Drawings

Robert Seaman 88 has been drawing since he was a boy but it took the coronavirus pandemic to allow him to fully return to his passion.

Seaman recently marked one year since he started doing daily drawings from his small one-room apartment in New Hampshire. He spends about six hours a day working on them.

"After a long life I'm back doing what I did when I was 11 years old " he said. "And it's great I love it. I'm so lucky that I can do this."

At first Seaman thought he'd make some art to reflect life in the pandemic. "Then it just started to grow and I thought it would be interesting to do one a day " he said.

He started sending the drawings to his friends and family including his daughter Robin Hayes who shared them on Facebook. As interest grew online he began offering the originals and prints for sale on Etsy.com with half the money going to charities.

And even though he has been drawing every day for a year Seaman said he doesn't plan to stop.

"It keeps me occupied and I love doing it but it also does help some other people which is kind of nice " he said. "Maybe I'll get so shaky I can't do anything but as long as I can I will."
