在2012年，西方媒体还曾大肆造谣，称叙利亚战乱，阿斯玛带着自己的仨孩子已逃跑去俄罗斯了……

而且，这还不算高潮。

高潮在于，2011年初，法国时尚杂志《Vogue》刊登了一篇十分“不合时宜”的文章——

虽然这篇报道的作者表示，在她采访阿斯玛和写稿时，“风向”还没有变。他们还是以称赞阿斯玛为主的。

但万万没想到，文章刊登之后，政治形势就彻底变了。当时的西方主流舆论已经在铺天盖地骂阿斯玛了，这不合时宜的“沙漠玫瑰”文章，就被Vogue简单粗暴地从网站上撤掉了。

而这篇文章的作者巴克，《Vogue》曾经的主编，法国时尚界的教母级人物，就这样莫名其妙地被卷入了“政治”——被迫离开了杂志社。

在一篇类似于回忆录的文章中，巴克抱怨说，当初她并不打算去采访阿斯玛，应该让政治记者去。但她的编辑怂恿她，说她不用和阿斯玛谈政治，说点儿文化古董博物馆之类的就行。 (“We don’t want any politics none at all ”said the editor “and she only wants to talk about culture antiquities and museums. You like museums. You like culture. She wants to talk to you. You’d leave in a week.”)
