Primary resources for instance wood energy sources and water are being used at a worrying pace and in turn this has led to several challenges for civilization. This essay shall discuss these issues along with offering solutions for how to overcome such problems.

One of the most serious issues resulting from primary resource depletion is that once exhausted their disappearance will be permanent as they are non-renewable resources. This means that the resource can only be used once as after it has been processed and produced into a product its lifecycle as a resource has finished oil of which is a prime example. Likewise forests are being cut down at an unsustainable speed leading to a reduction of Earth’s total bio-mass particularly in places such as Brazil causing not just a lack of trees but actually posing a threat to Earth’s biodiversity. These knock-on effects of overconsumption thus will affect both the environment and the economy and by proxy human society.

Despite the seriousness of these challenges technology holds the promise to overcome these resource-based problems. An example of such technology is that of solar power which is able to harness the energy of the Sun and convert it into electrical power. Other forms of power derived from renewable forms of energy are hydrogen batteries and it has even been shown that both water and air can generate electricity all of which can supplant the need for oil. The recycling of materials can also help reduce the amount natural resources consumed such as wood and new molecular-based solutions for water purification also hold great new promise helping us to resolve the problem of polluted drinking water supplies.

In conclusion though the world is depleting the natural resources of the planet simultaneously we ought to use and innovate new types of technology that have the potential to solve this serious problem of resource overuse.
