Dear Councilor
My name is Tom Collins and I live on 25 Wood Drive.
Recently the local council installed speed bumps on the north-flowing lane before the traffic lights. Though I can understand the reasoning behind this decision to install these speed reduction measures an unintended consequence has developed namely that of increased noise pollution emanating from the trucks that despite slowing down still create a great deal of noise as they pass over the bumps. Sometimes this noise is so thunderous that even the house shakes and after speaking with several neighbors not only did they also complain of shaking but they even fear that it might cause heart issues especially with some of the elderly.
From the locals I have spoken to there is a consensus building that instead of speed bumps to help encourage slower driving particularly with truck drivers we feel that flashing warning lights would be better. Not only would this reduce the noise from trucks but it would also be a much clearer signal to all drivers to slow down.
I understand that sometimes what we think is best unwittingly produces other challenges but in the spirit of community I and the locals I have spoken to sincerely wish that you and the council appreciate our situation and take appropriate action to mitigate our worries.
