I think that was Arian Foster while he was at Tennessee. He mentioned the coaches would buy them Taco Bell but they had to keep quiet about it since it was against NCAA rules.

This to me is the most ridiculous thing.
Like I can see why the NCAA wouldn’t want its athletes being paid. I don’t agree with it but I get the “amateur” argument.
Telling a kid he can lose eligibility/scholarships/etc because his coaches bought him Taco Bell? Insane. There is no way that benefits the student athlete.

In Utah Rick Majerus our old basketball coach bought pizza for the guys during film sessions and took a kid to dinner after a parent died. They had a three year probation for it. Its fucking ridiculous.

Honestly the whole "free education" part is bullshit. These student athletes are mostly to busy to really spend time learning and are having their grades "gamed" to make them pass easier to ensure their eligibility is not effected.

it’s always the most expensive college basketball ticket each year. historic rivalry and both teams are usually very good. super high demand and duke’s arena can only hold like 7500

That's a poor assumption. Duke has their student section which holds about 1200. The other 8000 are ticketed seats.

i agree and i dont know why ncaa can't come to this middle ground compromise on that. i think individual schools paying players is a bad idea but why is it such a bad idea for zion to sell his autograph or his shoes. why cant he have a basketball camp for kids? why cant ea put out a ncaa basketball game again and pay each player for use of the name and likeness? i would even grant ncaa some oversight into it so you dont get some booster paying $15000 for a signed basketball. all payments and amounts should be reported for verification and anything not reported or under the table could ruin eligibility

The worst is when NCAA coaches speak out against paying players. Okay coach if it's an amateur sport why are you getting paid 7 figures? Surely you won't mind coaching for 0 dollars and a chance at getting a professional job right?

Coach K and Calipari get paid 9m and 8m respectively. That's the same as the top NBA coaches and more than the other 27 NBA coaches.

I think its important for these people to at least finish high school before joining a lower level nba league. There would be a lot of players who drop out of high school at 16 only to not live up to expectations and be late to an education at 18 or 19 when they dont make it in a career in basketball

Reminder that the reason that Zion is not getting paid right now is the NBA acting as a cartel to bar players of certain ages from getting drafted. Most college fans would be absolutely fine with players being able to enter the pro leagues at any time they want and not forcing them to play in college for free it’s the pro leagues that enforce these rules.
提醒一下，蔡恩没有得到报酬的原因是NBA阻止了某些年龄段的球员被选中，大部分大学篮球粉丝让球员们在任何时间进入职业联盟，而不是强迫他们一直在大学免费比赛。关键是是职业联赛不让他们过早进入联盟。
