目的状语从句：从句部分用以补充说明主句中谓语动词发生的目的。
一、in order that；so that
1. so that 以便……（达到某种目的）
例如：
You must speak louder so that you can be heard by all.
你要大点声说，这样大家就都能听到你了。
2. in order that 为了……
例如：
She got up early in order that she could get to school on time.
=She got up early in order to get to school on time.
为了能够准时到校，她很早起床。
二、for fear that与in case
1. for fear that 生怕；以免
例如：
Shut the window for fear that it may rain.
把窗子关上以防下雨。
2. in case 以防；免得
例如：
Better take more clothes in case the weather is cold.
以防天气变冷，最好多带点衣服。
难点1. 目的状语从句中常含有can could may might should等情态动词。
例如：
I got up early so that I could catch the first bus.
我起得很早，目的是为了赶上头班公共汽车。
2. 在口语中so可以引导目的状语从句。例如：
We'll sit nearer the front so we can hear better.
我们坐的靠前一点，因此，我们听得清楚一点。
易错点in order that与in order to的区别：
1. in order that 从句表示为了……，后接从句，做目的状语。
例如：
I get up early in order that I can catch the early bus.
我早起是为了我能赶上早班车。
2. in order to 动词原形 （ in order to后面加的那个不叫目的状语从句，叫目的状语）
in order to 为了……，后接动词原形，做目的状语。
I get up early in order to catch the early bus.
我早起是为了赶上早班车。
