首先来看物流与运输的关系。便利和可靠的运输服务是有效组织输入和输出物流的关键，运输是供应链中各个环节进行物质流动的基础，如供应商、生产商、客户等；运输影响着物流的其他构成要素，如使用汽车运输和飞机运输需要配备不同的包装、装卸工具等；运输费用在物流费用中占有很大的比重，从以往的数据可以看出运输成本占物流总成本的1/3，这需要不断的优化运输网络、运输工具达到将本增效。
