拂起古代奔蹄穿梭的大火？
借问歌声何处尽？
青色的山间？
黄鸟路呢？
海鸥的飞翔呢？
当所有的颜色为一色所执著
当所有的声音止于你的容色
天际的城市溃散
峭壁沉落
巨大的拍动鼓着虚无
七孔俱无的石脸
检阅着知识生长的图画
花间：何种涌动
使万物可解？
这么多的门钮
向庭院和台阁……
使人瞪目哑口的季节
你升起之势如此赫然可惊：
啊，不要让河流
不要让树林
不要让村落
冲洗去
不要让戍卒
在孤寂的塔楼里的期望
溶入降落的声音
日晒的声音
花开的声音
或成为樵路
细

Are those voices which have never been heard?
Voice of falling
Voice of sunning
Voice of opening flowers
You are your rising up
Which overlaps the sea and the sky
And makes cloud from the torrent of white burst
Brush away the big fire in which ancient galloping hooves shuttle?
Can we ask where the singing stops?
Among green mountains?
What about yellow bird path?
And the soaring of seagulls?
When all colors are obsessed by one color
When all voices stop at your countenance
The city in the horizon loosens
Cliffs sink down
Huge fluttering flutter vanity
The stone face without seven apertures
Is examining the picture where knowledge grows
Among flowers: what kind of surging
Makes myriads of things comprehensible?
So many door knobs
Toward courtyard and pavilions …
The season which makes people dumbfounded
Your rising is so surprising:
Oh do not let the river
Do not let the woods
Do not let the village
Wash away
Do not let the soldiers
In the expectation of the lonely tower
Fuse into the voice of falling
Voice of sunning
Voice of opening flowers
Or into firewood path
Thin
Invading cloud …

作者简介：
叶维廉 (1937— )，广东中山市人。1948年到香港，1955年考取台湾大学外文系，1961年获台湾师范大学研究所英语硕士学位。1967年获普林斯顿大学比较文学哲学博士学位后到加州大学任教授。1954年开始诗歌创作。主要作品有：诗集《赋格》、《愁渡》、《醒之边缘》、《野花的故事》、《叶维廉自选集》、《花开的声音》、《松鸟的传说》、《三十年诗》、《叶维廉诗选》，理论《现象·经验·表现》、《秩序的生长》、《比较诗学》、《中国诗学》、《中国现代小说的风貌》、《历史、传释与美学》等。另有散文集、评论集多种。
About the author:
Wai-lim Yip（1937— ） his ancestral place is Zhongshan City of Guangdong Province. He came to Hong Kong in 1948 and in 1955 he was enrolled in the Foreign Languages Department of Taiwan University. In 1961 he got master’s degree in English from Taiwan Normal University and after he got doctor’s degree in comparative literature from Princeton University in 1967 he began to teach at University of California. Since 1954 he began his poetry writing.
