English Corners
English corners are occasions where English learners and English teachers can talk with each other in English on some topics. They offer opportunities for the college students to practise speaking English. So attending an English corner is quite popular① among English learners. Now almost every college has an English corner.
English corners are helpful to our English study. First by talking with other people we can improve② our oral English③ and at the same time we can make a lot of friends. Secondly in this activity we can develop our interests in English study. Thirdly we can find our mistakes in English speaking and correct them immediately.
Yet going to an English corner we must pay attention to several aspects. First of all we should not talk in Chinese. That means we must speak English from the very beginning till the end. Secondly we should not be shy of talking with strangers. We ought to be active④. Thirdly we should learn from other people modestly⑤.
In a word taking part in an English corner is a good way to improve our speaking ability. So we should try to put it to a good use.
