After school Jimmy bought two hot dogs happily.
He was about to his good old friend Albert's home. Actually he was going to say sorry because he was not in Albert’s good book.
**“good old 名词（姓名、地名、物品）”表示谈及这些名词时，你表露出喜爱之情。“my good old friend”就表示我很好很好的朋友。“their good old mom”表示他们很爱很爱的妈妈，“your good old teacher”则表示你很喜欢/尊敬的老师。要注意，“good old”中的“old”跟年纪可以点关系都没有哦~
**“you are in sb.'s good book”means sb. is pleased with you (对你很满意，你很招人喜欢)。文中是“not in Albert's good book"则表示Jimmy惹Albert生气。假设你人见人爱，每个人都喜欢你，那该怎么说呢？——“You are in everyone's good book”。
Luckily Albert is a fan of hotdogs. Giving him some hotdogs may help make good their friendship so that their good old days will be back and their relationship will be as good as new.
**"make good n."表示“修补，修缮，把。。。。。。补好”，这里“make good their friendship”就是指修补关系。
其他例子：“make good a loss”弥补损失
“make good a debt”清偿债务
**"good old days"表示过去美好的日子，相当于“the past good days”。
**"as good as new"表示thing/person在遭受破坏/疾病后完好如初/恢复如初。好比故事中Jimmy的设想，用hotdog让两人的友谊恢复到最初和睦的样子。
Upon thinking it Jimmy grasped the hotdogs carefully and walked faster to make sure he will be in good time.
**"be in good time"相当于on time，准时到达。

**"good gracious"与下文的“good lord"均表示“吃惊、震惊”的意思。
“You are in such a good shape you know. You should not eat hotdogs. They will not stand you in good stead. Understand?”
The dog was speechless just slobbering to death.
**“in a good shape”除了表示身材好，还表示身体健康，状态良好。
**"stand sb. in good stead" 表示 "it's beneficial/useful for you to do sth." 对。。。。。。有好处/益处。这里小男孩Jimmy是想告诉狗狗吃热狗不利于保持身材。
“Good lord… if you are as good as your word I can give you one but only one ok? You should know it's too good to be true for you to get one effortlessly.”
The dog made no answer.
**“as good as your word”=说到做到=turn to your word。
**"too good to be true"这个短语很好理解，就字面意思“美好得不似真实”。
“For good measure you should not ask for one more. The rest one must be Albert's. I believe you can do a good job.” said Jimmy.
**“for good measure”=in addition，“do a good job”就是“你很棒，干得好”的意思。
Having telling the white dog Jimmy lowered his body and put the hotdog in his left hand down in front of the dog.
没办法，形势比人强，Jimmy只好牺牲一条热狗来换取另一条热狗的生命...
Nearly in a second Jimmy ran towards Albert’s home once the dog paid his attention to the hotdog on the ground. For good or ill Jimmy still had one hotdog for Albert.
**“for good or ill”表示“该发生的始终会发生，该来的还是会来，不受任何人控制”，可以理解为“终究，最终”。
最终Jimmy还是保住了一条热狗，保住可能和Albert和好的机会。因此，Jimmy内心估计还是庆幸的。毕竟，要是两条热狗都被抢了，那什么换回跟Albert的友谊呢？
