I will never forget the moment when Beijing was awarded the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games on July 13 2001 in Moscow. People will remember this history. Let’s congratulate Beijing once more on its winning the bid to host the 2008 summer Olympic. I believe that the Olympics will surely make Beijing a world star and Beijing will certainly benefit a lot.
It is predicted that the tourism industry in China especially in Beijing will be further enhanced as a result of Beijing’s winning the right to host the 2008 Olympics. Of all cities in China Beijing has the most beautiful scenery. As we know the Great Wall—one of the seven wonders in the world attracts more and more people from all over the world. Every year thousands of visitors come to visit the wonderful architecture. Thus it can make China’s economy develop steadily. Besides pollution will be reduced greatly and more basic environmental protection facilities will be built in the near future. What’s more it is expected for us to spend billions of dollars on investment to the capital in the sport facilities transportation renovation environmental clean up and other preparations for hosting the games. Statistics from the 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee indicate that the sport event could bring a budget income of US﹩1.6 billion with a surplus of at least US﹩1.6 billion after deducting budget expenses.
