In the introduction the authors first introduce the sales model of e-commerce platforms and the way logistics services are provided leading to the four typical supply chain scenarios explored in this paper: e-commerce platforms adopt the resale model with logistics services provided by product suppliers; e-commerce platforms adopt the resale model and provide logistics services for products; e-commerce platforms adopt the platform model with logistics services provided by product suppliers; and e-commerce platforms adopt the platform model and provide logistics services for products.

Although the issue of e-commerce platform sales model and supply chain service channel selection has received more attention few studies have explored the impact of logistics service model on the selection of optimal sales model of e-commerce platform and few studies have explored logistics service under the scenario that traditional retailers/e-retailers can choose their own sales model so Chapter 3 will construct an e-commerce supply chain system consisting of a product supplier an e-commerce platform Therefore Chapter 3 will construct an e-commerce supply chain system consisting of a product supplier an e-commerce platform and many heterogeneous consumers and consider the interaction and influence between the e-commerce platform sales model and the e-commerce logistics service model focusing on four e-commerce supply chain scenarios to fill the research gap.

In the specific model analysis session the optimal decisions under different e-commerce supply chain scenarios are first solved; then the operational efficiency and effectiveness of different supply chain scenarios are examined by comparing the optimal price logistics service quality corporate profit consumer surplus and social welfare under different e-commerce supply chain scenarios; next under the condition of considering the decision sequence of product suppliers and e-commerce platforms the Next a balanced e-commerce supply chain scenario is explored taking into account the decision sequences of product suppliers and e-commerce platforms; finally example data are provided to verify the practical significance of the findings in this chapter.
The authors analyze the profit function and the function of different factors such as optimal price and logistics service quality for the four scenarios in turn. They also examine the operational efficiency of the supply chain by comparing these factors comparing the magnitudes of these factors in the RS RP MS and MP scenarios and analyzing the optimal decisions in different scenarios.

The interaction between e-commerce platforms and product suppliers is further considered to explore the balanced e-commerce supply chain scenario. A reverse induction approach is used for the analysis to first explore the preferences of product owners for different logistics service models and then based on the preferences of product owners for logistics service models the preferences of e-commerce platforms for different sales models are further analyzed.
Some companies are usually able to provide higher quality logistics services at lower costs. The authors therefore extend the main model again to consider scenarios where e-commerce platforms and product suppliers have differentiated logistics service costs/capabilities in addition to analyzing market scenarios that consider firms that incur both variable and fixed costs when providing logistics services. Finally the findings of this chapter are summarized based on the above analysis.
