广东粤剧院。广东粤剧院于1958年由原广东粤剧团、广州市粤剧团以及珠江、永光明、新世界、东方红、太阳升、南方、冠南华等几个粤剧团合并组成。首任院长为著名粤剧艺术大师马师曾，副院长罗品超，艺术总指导白驹荣。1. Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theater (广东粤剧院). Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theater was formed in 1958 by the amalgamation of the original Guangdong Cantonese Opera Troupe (广东粤剧团) Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Troupe (广州市粤剧团) and several other opera troupes such as Zhujiang (珠江) Yongguangming (永光明) Xinshijie (新世界) Dongfanghong (东方红) Taiyangsheng (太阳升) Nanfang (南方) and Guannanhua (冠南华). The first director of Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theater was the famous Cantonese opera master Ma Si Tsang (马师曾 Ma Shizeng) the deputy director was Law Bun Chiu (罗品超 Luo Pingchao) and the general art director was Baak Keol Wing (白驹荣 Bai Jurong).
1956年，广东粤剧团（广东粤剧院前身）赴京演出由马师曾、红线女主演的《搜书院》，周恩来观看了演出并书赠“批判性地接受民族文化遗产，创造性地发展地方戏曲音乐，使祖国的文化艺术发出新的光彩”的重要题词。广东粤剧院历史悠久，艺术力量雄厚，现时我院由广东粤剧院一团、广东粤剧院二团、舞美设计制作中心、广东粤剧艺术中心四个实体和院部组成。是粤剧界规模最大、水平一流的表演艺术团体，是全球粤剧艺术生产的重要基地，被誉为粤剧的最高艺术殿堂。广东粤剧院以“出人出戏出精品”为立院之本，数十年来造就了几代著名艺术家。剧院人才荟萃，阵容鼎盛，行当齐全。马师曾、红线女、罗品超、白驹荣等众多老一辈著名表演艺术家以他们精湛的表演享誉海内外。剧院注重艺术人才的梯队培养，丁凡、曹秀琴、梁耀安、吴国华、姚志强、梁淑卿、蒋文端、麦玉清、曾小敏等九位艺术家先后获得“中国戏剧梅花奖”，成为全国拥有“梅花奖”演员最多的艺术院团之一； 关国华、丁凡、小神鹰、黄壮谋（黄培）、梁耀安、曹秀琴等先后被评为广东省非物资文化代表性传承人；68位获得高级职称的在职艺术人员。
剧院成立以来编演了500多个粤剧剧目，其中不少成为名剧或保留剧目，如《搜书院》、《关汉卿》、《山乡风云》、《梦断香销四十年》、《魂牵珠玑巷》、《伦文叙传奇》、《锦伞夫人》等。我院创作排演的剧目多次获得文华奖、中国戏剧节优秀剧目奖、广东省鲁迅文学奖及广东省艺术节剧目一等奖等多个国家及省级奖项。剧院注重继承、保护粤剧的地方特色，2013年被文化部定为“全国地方戏创作演出重点院团”。剧院多次被评为广东省先进集体，并获得“全国文化先进集体”光荣称号。
近些年来，推出了《南海一号》、《青春作伴》、《风云2003》、《梦·红船》、《还金记》等一批优秀原创剧目，其中《梦·红船》入选第十五届文华大奖终评，并参加第十一届中国艺术节演出。在保护传承粤剧优秀传统艺术的同时，我院尝试排演一些题材新颖的新创剧目吸引年轻观众，近年我们排演了根据网络游戏《剑侠情缘》改编的粤剧《决战天策府》及以现代时尚唯美理念创作的《白蛇传·情》，取得轰动的效果，吸引了一批从没看过粤剧的年轻人进入剧场。剧院立足广东，面向全国，走向世界，曾多次出访美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新加坡、马来西亚、泰国等国家和香港、澳门、台湾地区演出，深受海内外观众欢迎。

In 1956 Guangdong Cantonese Opera Troupe (the predecessor of Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theater) was invited to Beijing to give a performance called The Runaway Maid starring Ma Si Tsang and Hung Sin-nui (红线女 Hong Xiannv). Zhou Enlai watched the performance and wrote the following comment: "Through critical reflection [Guangdong Cantonese Opera Troupe] made a great innovation in local opera which gave new life to our Chinese culture and arts on the basis of our national cultural legacies." Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theater boasts a long history and great artistic strength. At present the theater is composed of the No. 1 Troupe and No. 2 Troupe Stage Design and Production Center and Guangdong Cantonese Opera Arts Center. It is the largest Cantonese opera performing group of high professional level. What’s more being hailed as the seat of the finest Cantonese opera it also occupies an important position in global Cantonese opera production. The theater is built on its core values of "Fostering excellent artists and producing extraordinary works " and it has fostered generations of famous artists in decades. It is a talent magnet a strong tight-knit theater with all the needed stage property. A lot of senior artists such as Ma Si Tsang Hung Sin-nui Law Bun Chiu and Baak Keol Wing are well known both at home and abroad for their consummate acting skill. The theater prioritise the training of artistic talents. Nine artists including Ding Fan (丁凡) Cao Xiuqin (曹秀琴) Liang Yaoan (梁耀安) Wu Guohua (吴国华) Yao Zhiqiang (姚志强) Liang Shuqing (梁淑卿) Jiang Wenduan (蒋文端) Mai Yuqing (麦玉清) and Zeng Xiaomin (曾小敏) have won the Plum Blossom Award successively which makes the theater one of the most Plum Blossom Award winning theaters in China. Many other actors such as Guan Guohua (关国华) Ding Fan Xiao Shenying (小神鹰) Huang Zhuangmou (黄壮谋) Liang Yaoan and Cao Xiuqin have been nominated as the representative inheritors of the intangible cultural heritage in Guangdong Province. Besides there are 68 in-service artists with a senior professional title in the theater.

The operas produced by the theater has won many national and provincial awards such as the Wenhua Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture the Excellent Opera Award on China Theater Festival Lu Xun Literature Award and the first prize for repertoire on Guangdong Art Festival. Our theater is committed to the inheritance of the unique features of Cantonese opera. In 2013 it was designated by the Ministry of Culture as "A Key State-Level Local Opera Troupe."It has been rated as one of the exemplary social communities in Guangdong Province for many times. It has also won the title of “National Culturally-Advanced Group.”
In recent years the theater has produced a series of excellent operas such as Nanhai No. 1 Youth Partners The Fight Against SARS Outbreak in 2003 The Red Boat Spirit and A Selfless Horse Keeper During the Long March. Among them The Red Boat Spirit got into the final review for the 15th Wenhua Prize and it was performed on the 11th China Art Festival. While preserving the features of traditional Cantonese opera our theater also tries to find some novel subjects so as to attract the younger generations. For example one of our opera Fighting Against the Rebel is adapted from a popular Chinese online game JX3 and The Legend of the White Snake: Love is an opera movie made with a modern aesthetic view. Both of this two operas were truly sensational attracting a lot of young people who have never seen Cantonese opera before to the theater. Based in Guangdong province the theater not only focuses on Chinese audiences but also has an international perspective. It has visited many countries and regions such as the United States Canada Australia Singapore Malaysia Thailand Hong Kong Macao and Taiwan which made it popular both at home and abroad.
