History of Ancient Town – Cultivation for Thousands of Years Busy Ferry官渡古镇，著名历史文化古镇，滇文化发祥地之一。四千年前，滇池水长，荻花飘荡、岸柳成荫。
The Ancient Town of Guandu is a famous historical cultural ancient town and origin of Yunnan culture. Before four thousand years there is much water flowing flowers swaying and willow trees for shading here.
滇池Dianchi lake
近于滇池水边的古镇，屋舍俨然，一派宁静。因生息于此的先民靠捕螺蛳为生，螺壳堆积如山，旧称“窝洞”。
This is ancient town near riverside of Dian Pool houses are ordered with quietness. The ancient people resided here are living with catching spiral shells the shells are piled up which are formerly called as “shell cavity”.
南诏时，古镇占据要势，已然成为滇池东北岸的一大集镇和交通要冲。宋朝之前此处因设渡口，常有官船由水路转陆路进入昆明城，因此得名“官渡”。
In Nanzhao Kingdom the ancient town has occupied an important position and has become one major town and vital traffic hub in northeast riverside of Dian Pool. Before Song Dynasty there are ferries here with official vessels going into Kunming from water way to land way therefore it is called “official ferry”.

元代与昆明同时设县，明清时已发展成商业、手工业甚是发达的乡镇。
In Yuan Dynasty it has been set as county together with Kunming and until Ming and Qing Dynasty it has already grown to developed town in commercial and handicraft industry.
昔日的官渡古镇，丝竹管弦，笙箫歌舞；云水淼霭 风景如画；商贾云集，渔舟竞渡 高塔映辉，一派繁闹的景象。
The ancient town of Guandu songs and dancing are accompanied with favorite Chinese instrumentals; water flows under cloud and the scenery looks like a picture; many merchants gathered here under the prosperous scene with fishing boat racing and tower shining with each other.

Extremely Beautiful Landscape Remote Ancient Temple
with Zen sound清代时，官渡古镇在今螺峰、秀英、西庄和尚义4个村落范围内，“六寺七阁八庙”建筑群形成了“官渡八景”。
In Qing Dynasty the ancient town of Guantang has located in four villages scope including current Luofeng Xiuying Xizhuang and Shangyi. The building complex including “six temples seven pavilions and eight shrines” have formed “Eight Landscapes of Guandu Ancient Town.”
古渡渔灯
Fishing Lantern in Ancient Ferry
旧时官渡渡口舟楫熙攘，夜幕降临时，盏盏红灯笼挂于船头，引渔人归航。灯火通明，与星月争辉。
In old times there are many vessels in Guandu Ferry. When the night has come a large number of red lanterns are hung on the bow which will lead fisherman to return. The brightness for lights looks like stars and moon in sky.
螺峰叠翠
Luofeng Mountain full of Green Plants
螺峰山曾有百株柏树依山脚层叠至山顶，枝叶茂盛，绿意层叠。林间筑有建于宋代的法定寺，寺周古木幽深，纯朴静谧，别有底蕴。
Previously there are hundreds of cypresses growing from mountain foot to its top there are luxuriant branches and leafs full of greenness. In the forest Fangding Temple has been built in Song Dynasty surrounded by ancient trees. Overall environment is simple and quiet with special nature.
月映云台
Cloud Platform under Moon
古镇里原有螺蛳壳堆砌成的小山，唤作“云台山”，内有云台宫。宫内一方水池常年清明如镜，竹影婆娑。每当月圆之时，月影映照一片宁静。
In the ancient town there is a hill piled up with shell of snails which is called “Cloud Platform under Moon” with cloud platform palace inside. In the palace water in pool is always clear as mirror in all years with bamboo shade swaying. Every time the moon is full you can feel quietness under the moon shadow.
杏圃牧羊
Sheep Grazing in Apricot Garden
现观音寺和云台宫之间，古时植有大片杏林。每逢早春，杏花竞相开放，引得士大夫们饮酒赋诗、对弈弹琴。
Between the temple of avalokiteśvara and cloud platform palace there are large area of apricot forests in ancient times. Every early spring the apricot flowers blooms together and this beautiful scenery has attracted scholar officials to drink compose poems play chess and Chinese zither.
凌云烟缭
Clouding Pavilion udner Mist
凌云即凌云阁，坐落古镇西北角。阁楼下宝象河穿流而过，晨间薄雾缭绕，鸟声清绝。晚间，寺院香火飘然而至，一派禅意宁静。
Clouding refers to clouding pavilion which is located in northwest corner of ancient town. Below the pavilion Baoxiang River is flowing over and in each morning there are light mist and clear sounds of birds. And when night comes every day the incense smell has blown everywhere and you can feel the tranquility of Zen.
滇南草坪
Greensward in South of Yunnan
古镇五谷寺西面，曾有一片广袤的草坪。每逢庙会、节庆，人潮熙然，叫卖声、吆喝声不绝，好不热闹。
At the west of grain temple of ancient town formerly there is wide greensward. Every time there are temple fairs and festival celebrations there are surges of people and it is very bustling with sounds of peddling and yelling.
金刚夜语
Dorje under Night Rain
妙湛寺金刚塔，该塔是我国现存的十余座金刚塔中建造时间最早、历史最为悠久的一座，喇嘛塔式塔身的塔型更是全国仅此一例。
The Dorje Pagoda is in Miaozhan Temple this pagoda is one of over ten existing Dorje pagodas built in earliest time and with longest history. Meanwhile the lamaist style pagoda body is unique in China.
正四方形的宝塔底部跨空，四方各有券门相通。基座之上，大小塔相映成辉，宛如雨后春笋，灵动之间，十分协调。宝塔石刻雕工极为精细，佛像、四大法王、金轮等，无不细腻逼真，活灵活现。
The square bottom of pagoda has been opened up and there are doors respectively in four corners. On the foundation the big and small pagodas have formed a brilliant picture with each other and it seems bamboo shoots after spring rain which are spiritual and harmonious. Meanwhile the stone carving in pagoda is very delicate and all of Buddha figures Four Chos-rgyal Cakra and etc. are exquisite and vivid.
笔写苍穹
Two Pagodas to the Sky
距金刚塔不远处的妙湛寺双塔，尤为令人瞩目。两座十三层密檐方形的实心砖塔，始建于元泰定四年，双塔东西相对，塔身设佛龛，塔尖四角置有“金鸡”。
Near the Dorje Pagoda there are twin-pagodas in Miaozhan Temple they are particularly remarkable. These two square and solid-brick pagodas with thirteen floors and dense eaves have been built in the forth year of Taiding Emperor Period of Yuan Dynasty. The two pagodas are located in east and west side respectively and face to each other with Buddha niche setting in pagoda body and “golden pheasant” hung on four corners of pagoda top.
遥遥望去，双塔身形高耸，通体金黄，简约大气。相互对峙的佛塔，如耸立的大笔，直指苍穹。
Looking from a distance the two pagodas are tall golden-bodied and simple in style. The mutual facing pagodas look like standing writing-brushes which are straight to the sky.
