Today is China's traditional Chongyang Festival or Double Ninth Festival which has been known as Seniors' Day since 1989.
With the festival seen as an opportunity to care for and appreciate the elderly we posed a question to our Weibo followers: If you're spending time with your parents today what are you most looking forward to? Let’s take a look at their thoughtful responses.
"Don't forget to give them a call " @Xduduwei said.
Not everyone is lucky enough to have their parents or grandparents close by. Apparently most young people now are working in different cities which are often far away from their hometowns meaning they can only go home during a weeklong holiday. For the Chongyang Festival however a phone call to catch up with each other sharing life's trials and tribulations will be the choice for many.
Other answers mentioned meaningful gifts climbing mountains and celebrating wedding anniversaries. And one Weibo user @ConstanceKKK concluded "It doesn't take a lot to make your parents feel loved."
A simple moment with your parents or grandparents may become a priceless memory. This shouldn't be restricted to just the Chongyang Festival but become part of your daily routine to express your feelings. Most importantly make sure you are there when they need you.
