Zhengzhou with a Central Business District (CBD) in the east and Central Culture District (CCD) in the west is clearly developing into a national central city. The presence of both districts signifies that Zhengzhou is moving forward toward the world.

When night comes the standout building of CBD – the "Big Corn" – starts lighting up together with "Zhengzhou Eye" – the most distinctive building of CCD – as if they were interacting with each other. Both districts boast fashionable areas and new businesses which helps revitalize the city life. The colourful nightlife makes them both hot spots for large numbers of visitors. They demonstrate the city's new life and lay a solid foundation for them to become the new shopping centers of Zhengzhou.

Areas of Zhongyuan District are under heavy construction. Grasping the opportunity the Zhengzhou Central Cultural District (CCD) provides Zhongyuan District has invested 40 billion yuan towards 29 projects including roads utility corridors ring corridors and water systems. The Olympic Sports Center the Modern Media Center the Grand Theater Zhengzhou Museum and Zhengzhou Art Museum have all opened in this district. As an example of the new construction this district has basically finished the construction of the comprehensive water system traffic corridors and ecological projects. In the areas of the northern CCD and the Ersha Cultural and Creative Park and the area along the Xushui River more efforts have been made to further construction consolidating the urban design achievements. At present there are 137 600 square meters of lands that have been rearranged. In addition there are 8 industrial projects under construction 12 newly signed industrial projects and 5 industrial projects preparing to begin construction. So far about 6.636 billion yuan has been invested. Now the Ersha Cultural and Creative Park and the first section of the Sesame Street 1958 Shuangchuang Park have opened which have become hot spots in Zhengzhou.

There are plenty of natural views. In accordance with the guidelines to have plants within a 300-meter walk and parks within 500 meters citizens have places to go for leisurely walks. Over the past decade Zhongyuan District has added 126 green areas including parks amusement parks and street green spaces. In addition the District houses 5 new ecological and cultural parks 73 new green roads a newly forested area of 3 260 mu and new green areas covering 6.8 million square meters. All in all the district has achieved a green space rate of 36.31% and a green coverage rate of 41.63% realizing the goal of having plants within a 300-meter walk and parks within 500 meters.

这里处处是美景。“300米见绿、500米见园”，市民休闲散步有去处。十年来，中原区新建公园、游园、街头绿地126个，建成开放生态遗址文化公园5个，绿化道路73条，造林育林3260亩，新增绿化面积680万平方米，全区绿地率36.31%、绿化覆盖率41.63%，基本实现“300米见绿、500米见园”。

Zhongyuan District has also upgraded 41 roads and built 223 high-quality roads. Fully renovating 522 old communities it is praised as the top district of Zhengzhou for old community renovation projects. It brings fresh results of the construction of beautiful neighborhoods and the project of "brightening the city" with the mechanized road cleaning rate reaching over 97%. Due to hard effort to build a clean orderly and more comfortable district it ranks first in all districts of Zhengzhou in city management for five consecutive years.

精细化管理全面提升。中原区改造提升道路41条、创建优秀道路223条。综合改造老旧小区522个，荣获全市老旧小区改造工程先进集体。美丽街区建设、城市“亮化”工程成效初显，道路机械化清扫率达到97%以上，城市环境整洁、有序、舒适、愉悦，城市管理工作五年全市排名第一。

Zhongyuan District has been emphasizing the construction of mass sports facilities as a major livelihood project. It has built 1 299 sports venues of 45 different types reaching a total area of 799 705 square meters including 19 public football fields. What's more 5 fitness venues have been opened in the Zhengzhou Workers West Sports Center Zhengzhou Olympic Sports Center Zhengzhou Changjiang Sports Park Chenwuzhai Sports Park and Sesame Street Sports Park which means a 15-minute fitness circle has been formed.

中原区还坚持把建设群众体育设施作为重大民生工程，全区已建成45类、1299个体育场地，总面积79.9705万平方米。其中，社会足球场19块；以郑州市职工西区体育中心、郑州奥体中心、长江体育公园、陈伍寨体育公园、芝麻街体育公园为核心的5个全民健身场馆体系已初步形成，打造完成15分钟健身圈。

Zhongyuan District has accomplished a lot over the past decade. During this period the GDP of Zhongyuan District grew by 7% annually. Its GDP reached 34.21 billion yuan in 2012; exceeded 40 billion yuan in 2015; exceeded 50 billion yuan in 2017; exceeded 60 billion yuan in 2018; and exceeded 70 billion yuan in 2020. Its GDP is expected to exceed 80 billion yuan in 2022 and to exceed 100 billion yuan during the 14^thFive-Year Plan period.

非凡十年，数字看中原。十年来，中原区生产总值年均增长7%，2012年生产总值为342.1亿元，2015年突破400亿元，2017年突破500亿元，2018年突破600亿元，2020年突破700亿元，今年有望超800亿元，“十四五”规划更是朝着超千亿元目标迈进。

Over the past decade the people of Zhongyuan District about 967 000 in total worked hard in unity to build this 97.1-square-kilometer area into a vibrant and beautiful place.
