M: Where could I buy some stamps for these postcards?
W: Well let me see. As you leave the hotel walk along the road until you come to a supermarket which is next to a garage. The post office is across from the supermarket.

W: She’s suitable for this job. If her former manager gives her good recommendations I’ll offer her the position.
(Text 6)M: Excuse me. ⑦Could you please check to see if we could stay till the day after tomorrow? We’ve found some extra things we’d like to do in this area.
W: OK. But maybe you need to change to the second floor.
M: All right. At least we don’t have to pack up again. ⑦We’d like it if we could postpone our check-out till Thursday morning instead of tomorrow morning.
M: That’s fine. Where are you going to have the party? In a restaurant?
W: I wanted to have it at home but there isn’t enough space ⑩so my mother thought of the tennis club.
M: Oh. It’s nice there. What kind of party is it? Should I wear a party dress?
W: We’re going to play some games so don’t wear anything special — your jeans will be fine.

W: No. We can take a taxi. But my uncle will ride a motorbike and he will take you home. He lives near you.
M: That’s great ...
(Text 9)W: So what did you think of the Western Restaurant then Dave?
M: It wasn’t as good as I’d thought. You’d given the place such a good review after you’d tried it out with Katie that I was expecting to go there.
W: Yes I was a bit disappointed this time too. My steak was really tough and they’d taken that wonderful cheesecake off the menu for some reason.
M: I thought you were enjoying the steak! My main course wasn’t too bad I suppose but the starter!
W: What do you think the others thought of it?
M: Well we’ll find out at work tomorrow. No one said much there. I guess no one wanted to complain and ruin the celebration for Jack. Well I’ll miss him. It’ll be strange in the office without him.
W: Sure. Those people at the next table were having an argument about the bill. At least we had no problems with that.
M: So do you think you’ll take your mum there?
W: There’s a new Chinese place opening next week. She might prefer to try that.
M: You could take her to both.
W: Maybe last night’s place just can’t deal with large parties. I’ll give it another try.
(Text 10)W: I’m going to give you some instructions about the class trip tomorrow. We are going to leave school tomorrow at 7:30. Please make sure that you are here fifteen minutes earlier so that we can check everyone and leave on time. This means that most of you will have to get up by 6 but I’m sure you’ll enjoy the day.
Please make sure that you are wearing comfortable shoes because we are going to do a lot of walking. I know it’s been very hot but a jacket is necessary as it may get cold in the evening. Food and drinks will be provided. It is unnecessary for you to bring cameras — you won’t have time to take photos.
As you know the aim of our trip is for you to draw a map of the village we are going to visit. So this evening you could read your notes on preparing maps carefully. You will be working in pairs and each pair will be working on a different section of the village. Three teachers will be there to help you if necessary.
After the hard work of the day you should be able to enjoy a relaxing evenin g. There is going to be a performance by a visiting theatre group of Romeo and Juliet. This is going to take place in a big square. This should finish at about 11 and so we shall not be back in school till after midnight.
