across cross through 与over这四个词都可译为“穿过”，但词性和用法不同：

（1）across 意为“穿过，横过”，作介词。常表示从物体的表面穿过，即穿过一个平面，强调从一边到另一边。例如：

He often phones across the street.

他经常穿过街道去打电话。

（2）cross 意为“横过，渡过”，作动词，相当于go/walk across 例如：

They look left then right and cross the street.

他们左看看，右看看，然后穿过街道。

（3）through 意为“通过，穿过”，作介词。指从物体的中间或里面穿过。例如：

The box is too tall！It can't go through the door.

箱子太高了！它无法通过门。

（4）over 意为“越过，在……之上”，作介词。表示从某物上空越过、跨过。例如：

The moon is ~ the roof of our house.

月亮在我们屋顶的正上方。
