Your voice was not hoarse and husky anymore but you had a runny nose and occasionally had fits of violent cough. You were loath to blow your nose whenever mummy told you to ready to give your nostrils a good wipe with a tissue. I'm in the know. When the other day I asked you why when I was about to wipe your mucous nose you said "It’s too noisy." Barely had the words escaped your mouth was a faint glimmer of gospel divine truth I felt creeping into my mind. Now I have got into my thick skull why you take against blowing your nose: doing that would produce piercing buzzing sounds in your ears.

你的声音不哑了，可你开始流鼻涕，时而来一阵咳嗽，咳得很厉害。每次妈妈要用纸巾给你擦鼻子，让你擤鼻子，你都不愿意擤。我可知道个中蹊跷。那天我给你擦鼻涕的时候就问过你为什么不喜欢擤鼻子，你说，“太吵了。”你话音刚落，我突然感觉有一道真理之光闪现了。那光虽然微弱，但那真理以其权威和神性冲破我愚钝的脑壳，直往脑袋里钻，让我茅塞顿开。你不喜欢擤鼻子的原因是：擤鼻子会产生刺耳的声音，在你的耳朵里嗡嗡嗡嗡，太吵太闹。
