My view On Desert
There are many deserts in the world. For example Sahara Kalahari Gobi desert and so on are all large areas of sand. It’s very difficult for life to survive there owing to① extreme changes in temperature and very low rainfall. A scorching sun an endless sea of sand and a waterless forbiddingly lonely land——that is the image most people have of deserts.
But now some areas are becoming deserts or in danger of becoming deserts. Desertification has many causes. One of them is manmade. For instance people overgraze② flocks of sheep and goats and they cut down trees either for sale or for fuels. The coverage③ of the world’s forests is rapidly dimishing which is attributed to the denudation④ and forest fires.
To prevent deserts from spreading governments at all levels have taken some measures to stop the soil from being further eroded.⑤Some successful projects have improved harsh environment in many regions. However the problem of preventing desertification is far from being solved completely. In brief we have a long way to go before we can make our earth a better place to live in.
