在其他时态中,must有时和have to或have got to可以互换。

She must be at least thirty-five years old.

Jennifer will have to take part in a new play soon.

In the play she must appear in a bright red dress and long black stockings. Last year in another play she had to wear short socks and a bright orange-coloured dress.

must和have to的互换

新二Lesson 41

在表达“必要”、“不必要”等含义时,除了可用must和 have(got)to以外,还可以用need。

‘You needn't be so rude about it ' my wife answered as she looked at herself in the mirror.

肯定句用must have to ought to或should

‘We mustn't buy things we don't need 'I remarked suddenly.I regretted saying it almost at once.

‘You needn't have said that ' my wife answered.

needn't have done表示本来不该做某事,但是已经做了 常用的类似词would should动能这么用

表示“应该”和“必须”的情态助动词 should ought have to 与must

A policeman approached Jimmy and told him he ought to have gone along a side street as Jumbo was holding up the traffic.

so it was fortunate that we didn't have to carry him.
