Eight spaces in the Tonglu highway car park in Hangzhou Zhejiang province east China have been painted pink and made 1.5 times bigger than usual spaces to ‘accommodate female drivers’.

I don’t care about the outrage. I’d love a wider parking slot. It would keep idiots from dinging may doors and make backing out a bit easier also I drive a Suburban so a wider parking slot would be perfect for my car.

I’m female and happily agree that I’m a bad at parking. I always look where there are 2 spots together. Lol. In Australia they keep making spot’s smaller so I’d appreciate a ‘women’s only’ one. lolol

I’d be happy to park there. As I HATE when people park next to me. The dings on the door careless kids. I typically park way in the back away from others….an extra minute of walking through the lot is not that big a deal.

I’ll never forget being eight months pregnant with twins and returning to my car to find the car beside me had parked so close I couldn’t open my door more than four inches. I had the scramble in from the other side. Lol–I’d have loved a space like this.

I got parked in once and had to climb into the car with my baby and infant seat through the rear hatch on my car because there was only about 4 inches of space on either side! I’d take a bigger spot too!

This is funny! My husband is a great driver but terrible at parking and backing up. When we moved he drove the U-Haul and I backed it up into the driveway. I always tease him that people probably think he’s a drunk driver when parking. Can he use the pink spots too?

Since most women have to deal with carrying kids groceries dry cleaning etc to and from their cars this is actually a bonus because it gives you a bit of extra room to open your doors. The slots might have been created for the wrong reason but they definitely are a bonus!

The main problem with parking spaces is that cars are generally getting bigger but parking spaces are not. Wider and longer parking spaces to accommodate vans and family cars would be a step forward.
