Brexit

Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA)
The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) is a United States federal law whose intent is to enforce the requirement for United States persons (including those living outside the U.S.) to file yearly reports on their non-U.S. financial accounts to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FINCEN). The law requires all non-U.S. (foreign) financial institutions (FFI’s) to search their records for indicia indicating U.S. person-status and to report the assets and identities of such persons to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.[1] The FATCA is the revenue-raising portion of the 2010 domestic jobs stimulus bill the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act [2][3] and was enacted as Subtitle A (sections 501 through 541) of Title V of that law.

Snowbird
A snowbird is a term often associated with people who move from the higher latitudes and colder climates of the northern USA and Canada and migrate southward in winter to warmer locales such as Florida California Hawaii Arizona Texas or elsewhere along the Sun Belt of the southern United States Mexico and areas of the Caribbean.
Many of these “snowbirds” also use their vacation time to declare permanent residency in low- or no-tax income tax states (where the tax bases are augmented by high tourism taxes) and claim lower non-resident income taxes in their home states. Canadian snowbirds usually retain residency in Canada in order to retain health benefits. Due to the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act there are now additional implications for Canadian snowbirds in the United States
