The Wolves were buoyed by his bravado and tried to match his toughness. The Portland defense gave the Wolves fits for much of the night and Towns was uncharacteristically passive when it came to trying to shoot over the top of the zone defense and loosen things up. Simons finished with 17 points on 5-of-18 shooting with six turnovers thanks to Vando and Jaden McDaniels hounding him.
“We’re fortunate to have a weapon like him defensively in particular ” Finch said.

For a good portion of this game it looked like it was just another one of those nights where they didn’t have it and were going to go quietly into the night.
