湖南位于中国中部，长江中游，全省辖13个市、1个自治州、122个县（市区），总面积21.18万平方公里，人口7200多万。

Located in the central China Hunan is in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It has the jurisdiction over 13 municipalities 1 autonomous prefecture and 122 counties (urban areas) with a total area of 211 800 square kilometers and a population of more than 72 million.

In 2015 it received the domestic and foreign tourists of 473 million; achieving the total tourism income of RMB 371.29 billion Yuan. The cultural industries such as radio and television animations and cartoon cultural creativity publishing and so on in Hunan occupy an important position in the country. The radio and television in Hunan ranked the fourth in "Top Ten Brand ATV" and by 2015 the whole province realized about RMB 174.4 billion Yuan in the cultural and creativity industry.

In recent years Hunan vigorously promoted the new type of industrialization. By the end of 2015 more than 10 billion industries have been formed which include engineering machinery rail transportation automobile manufacturing cultural creativity biological medicine new materials etc. Among them the rail transportation industry has become the largest domestic industry production base and export base. The economic aggregate in Hunan has been maintained the national top ten for many years. The average annual growth rate in the "12th Five-year Plan" Period reached 10.5%; the gross regional product of Hunan in 2015 reached RMB 2.9 trillion Yuan showing an increase of 8.6% ranking the country's top ten; the fixed asset investment was RMB 2.5954 trillion Yuan; the retail sales of social consumer goods reached RMB 1.2 trillion Yuan showing an increase of 12.1%; it actually utilized the foreign investment of 11.56 billion US dollars and there are 138 world Top 500 enterprises investing in Hunan. The province has one state-level New Area (Xiangjiang River New Area) 142 industrial parks above the provincial level 14 state-level development zones and 3 comprehensive bonded zones. There are 994 enterprises invested and set up in 84 countries and regions and 9 overseas economic and trade zones. In 2015 the scale of foreign investment ranked first in central China.
