在日本老一辈成名的赛车手中,大部分都使用过丰田AE86开展其赛车生涯的历史,当然土屋圭市是其中的领军人物。
热爱深夜飞车的土屋在1984年驾驶一辆丰田AE86参加本土A级赛事,并创出六连胜的纪录,而他的头牌便是“甩尾过弯绝技”。
从当时日本山路漂移文化的诞生,到后来为“头文字D”担当顾问,可以说土屋在“著名腐二代的AE86神话”中充当了相当重要的角色。
1978年,丰田推出Tercel,这是丰田基层车系转投FF(前置前驱)阵营的标志。
而当时定位性能的AE86却依然保持FR(前置后驱)布局。民间的说法是因为当时丰田的FF技术未如理想,前轮驱动难以兼顾灵敏转向与强悍动力,于是高性能型号只好硬着头皮延用FR布局。
其实AE86在出世之前,丰田进行了大量的测试活动,其中之一便是在雅马哈赛道上连续行驶三天三夜,以证明了AE86 4A-GEU的双凸轮轴16气门发动机的耐用性能极强。
而据说当年的开发团队为AE86定下三大目标,一是挑战当时筑波赛道最快单圈纪录,二是称霸日本国内的拉力赛事,三是挑战200km/h的极速,结果都完美完成任务。
作为AE86焦点之一的这副4A-GEU直列四缸发动机,除拥有双凸轮轴控制每气缸四气门外,还有t-vis可变进气及efi-d电子燃油喷注系统。相比早一代的2T-GE,4A-GEU以转数上升迅猛著称,飙进7300rpm的黄区甚至7700rpm的红区都不费吹灰之力。
其实要说AE86是天生的甩尾好料一点不为过。车身净重不到940kg,在介乎失控的临界状态下,车重越轻,横向加速力越小,由此车手可更轻易控制车辆横滑的幅度,此其一。
另一项便是AE86后悬设计采用非独立的硬轴,这种设计在车辆全油出弯时牵引力比双连杆或多连杆都要差,但是偏偏应对甩尾玩家的要求。
在结构上,非独立式悬挂的活动部件相对较少,并且各部分均十分坚固,车手得到的行车讯息更加直接,对于车辆动态的掌握也更加充分。
